In this panel discussion moderated by Yeow Kai Chai, writers Grace Chia and Mok Zining discuss how their writings have reflected on the theme of identity throughout the years in both micro and macro ways – personal and intimate, national and constructed, as well as the intermingling of both. The panel will conclude with a 15 minute Q&A session.
Following the panel, Librarian Michelle Heng will conduct a sharing on Closed Stacks items along with an exclusive Curator’s Tour through National Library’s Donor Gallery which currently features the Hedwig Anuar Collection alongside other donor collection materials tracing the arc of literary development in Singapore. Hedwig Anuar – poet, advocate and first Singaporean director of the National Library – remains an enduring inspiration for a nationwide reading habit that led to a blossoming of homegrown literary talents.
