poetry.sg is an educational / critical resource on all things Singaporean poetry, conceptualised and managed by a dedicated team of staffers and volunteers at Sing Lit Station. Launched in 2015 with support from the National Arts Council, poetry.sg is an online database of local poets that comes with an accompanying catalogue of biographies, samples of selected poetry, video recordings and critical essays written by academics and other local writers alike.
Its aim is to continually update itself on an annual basis, with new poets, new essays, new poems, and new recordings. Its first wave in 2015 included a release of 50 poets, ranging from Aaron Lee to Yong Shu Hoong, as well as a handful of spoken word poets particularly prominent in the scene. Its second wave in 2016 included a complete revamp of the website and 10 additional poets. 10 more English language poets and 10 Malay language poets will be featured in its third wave, due to land in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Sing Lit Station's broader mission for the website is to see it include poetry from the Chinese, Malay and Tamil languages, as well as possible ventures into other literary genres such as fiction and playwriting.
