Five poems, five artistic interpretations, one stage.
This September, five artists from five different disciplines – dance, theatre, sound, visual, and installation – invite you to experience and be enthralled by poetry's new address. Alamat Baharu features contemporary artists Azy Alias, Norisham Osman, Henrik Cheng, Bani Haykal, and ila to interpret the poetry of Suratman Markasan, Masuri S. N., Rasiah Halil, Rafaat Haji Hamzah and Mohamed Latiff Mohamed.
Performed in English and Malay with English surtitles, and presented by The Arts House and -wright Assembly, Alamat Baharu explores the theme of "together but apart", drawing emotion and meaning from the poetry of our greatest writers, in an attempt to reveal what it takes to coexist in our ever-changing society, and how to celebrate and reap from our differences.
