Migrant workers often experience various forms of trauma while working in a foreign land. They are subjected to long working hours, harsh working conditions, social isolation, and discrimination. All these experiences can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Storytelling can be used as a powerful tool for healing among migrant workers.
While storytelling can be done in many ways, this workshop will focus on writing very short fiction as a means of sharing and healing through sharing experiences, building connections, coping with trauma, and advocating for change.
PAGHASIK NG MUNTING KATHA: ANG PAGKUKUWENTO PARA SA PAG-AYO (Flash Fiction for Beginners: Storytelling for Healing) is part of a migrant worker creative writing workshop series presented by Migrant Writers of Singapore and supported by Sing Lit Station and The Majurity Trust.
