In March as part of the SG Author Series organised by the National Library Board we will be joined by Singaporean writer, Meira Chand who will share her insights on the craft of novel writing and take us through some of her techniques using passages from her novels.
Meira Chand is of Indian-Swiss parentage, and has lived in Japan, India, and Singapore. Her novels spring from the confluence of different cultures in her life, with 15 strong themes of identity and belonging.
Specialising in historical fiction, she is best known for A Different Sky which was longlisted for the Impac Dublin award 2012, and was on Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club recommended reading list. Her ninth novel Sacred Waters was published in 2017. Apart from novels, she has also written the story from which The LKY Musical was developed. In Singapore she is involved in many programmes to promote literature and mentor young writers. She is now a Singapore citizen and has made her permanent home in the country.
