Come join them for the book event of Braving Life!
Braving Life, which was written in Bengali, has been translated not just into English but also into Chinese.
Braving Life is Mukul’s much-anticipated second volume of poetry. In this powerful new collection, unchanging in its trademark emotional bravery, his verses continue to enlighten and inspire readers with their unflinching but always understanding gaze at the life of a migrant worker. Informed by his dedicated volunteer work at Healthserve’s medical clinic, Mukul’s voice, not commonly heard, shows us a Singapore not often seen.
Written in his mother tongue, Bengali, Braving Life has been lovingly and beautifully translated by Swagata Sen Pillai and transcreated by Cyril Wong. The Chinese translation was done by a group of 10 Secondary Three students from Nanyang Girls' High School, many of whom had not interacted closely with a migrant worker before.
It is published by Healthserve.
