Write and Burn! is a poetry performance competition aimed at youth between the ages of 15 and 18 from all backgrounds and all schools/junior colleges/centralized institutions.
The 2024 Write and Burn! theme is ‘Fear Un.bound.' Fear manifests in endless guises such as anguished imaginings, hesitation, insecurities. Refusing fear's tyranny sets one free. This poetry competition invites lyric explorations of dread, anxiety and cowardice - alongside means to still these feelings.
Through a workshop led by renowned Singaporean poet and literature teacher Crispin Rodrigues, participants are encouraged to examine and interrogate their personal identities and develop their passion for and talents in poetry, through writing exercises.
