An excellent opportunity to learn from a master wordsmith! This workshop by Boey Kim Cheng will focus on how to incorporate rhythm, musicality, imagery and metaphors into prose.

Writing the City Writers’ Group is a community of writers committed to the craft of writing. Their monthly workshops offer participants writing exercises, guest lectures, and exposure to literature from both established and emerging writers.

For this special session, award-winning poet Boey Kim Cheng will be conducting a writing workshop on incorporating rhythm, musicality, imagery and metaphors in prose. Boey was born in Singapore and migrated to Australia in 1997. His books include four collections of poetry — Somewhere-Bound (1989), Another Place (1992), Days of No Name (1996) and After the Fire (2006) — and a travel memoir, Between Stations (2009). He was a senior lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Newcastle, Australia, and currently teaches at Nanyang Technological University.
