ABOUT

Robert Yeo has taught for more than three decades in the fields of teacher education and creative writing, and has been with the Singapore Management University for more than 15 years. He is widely published in poetry, drama, essays and life writing. He has edited many anthologies of plays and short stories for general reading and schools.

WORKSHOPS

TEACHING UNSEEN POETRY
For: upper sec only; 10–40 pax
Availability: 2 hours per session; single / multiple sessions
Description: Using Sense and Sensitivity: A Guide to Unseen Poetry for the GCE 'O' and 'N' Level Exam (2018), students will be taken through specific chapters of the book that will enrich students’ understanding of specific aspects of poetry.
Learning Outcomes: An appreciation and understanding of poetry tailor-made for the GCE “O” and “N” Level Examinations.

HOW TO WRITE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
For: upper sec, junior college, teachers; 10–20 pax
Availability: 3 hours per session; single session
Description: In this workshop participants will learn how to write the story of one’s own life. Robert Yeo himself will bring objects, documents and other paraphernalia in order to demonstrate where writing begins from one’s own life. He will provide illustrations and examples from his own book, Routes: A Singaporean Memoir, as well.
Learning Outcomes: How to identify aspects of their lives worth writing; how to write creative non-fiction and life writing.
