In the first half, playwright and author Myle Yan Tay (Yan) will share how his passion for the thriller genre and old school comics inspired his debut novel, catskull, and discuss the fine act of balancing violence, horror and social commentary when weaving a compelling story and writing nuanced characters.
In the second half of the session, Yan will be joined by Kristian-Marc James Paul and Mysara Aljaru as the three editors of Brown Is Redacted discuss the diverse minority experiences encompassed in the groundbreaking essay collection. They will share insights into the process of putting the collection together, and also imagine what kinds of conversations they hope will emerge from Brown Is Redacted and new minority literatures in Singapore.
