Fairoz Ahmad’s novel, Neverness was published by Ethos Books in Sept 2024. Described by the Straits Times as a ‘layered narrative of Singapore and the Malay community in the 1960s and 70s’ and literary scholar Philip Holden as a ‘powerful excavation of histories’, It recounts the dying days of the once major village of Engku Aman and explore loss and trauma amongst Malay teenagers during the period. His previous work, Interpreter of Winds, was published by Ethos Books in 2019. The book reflected his experiences and observations growing up Muslim in a world too busy, too distracted, to understand one another. Fairoz graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master of Public Policy (Distinction).
