How do writers keep you up into the wee hours, turning the pages? Christina Sng & Jocelyn Suarez will discuss techniques to draw readers beyond the realm of logic and into the uncanny.
Panelist Christina Sng is a three-time Bram Stoker Award-winning author of A Collection of Dreamscapes and A Collection of Nightmares. Her poetry, fiction, essays, and art appear in numerous venues worldwide and have garnered accolades such as the Jane Reichhold International Prize, nominations for the Rhysling Awards, the Dwarf Stars, the Elgin Awards, the Pushcart Prize, as well as honorable mentions in the Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror, and the Best Horror of the Year. Panelist Jocelyn Suarez writes poetry and prose. Her works have appeared in collections like My Lot Is a Sky, Anima Methodi, and several SingPoWriMo anthologies, as well as online journals like Dying Dahlia Review, Eunoia Review, and Pressure Gauge Journal. She is part of the poetry collective, ATOM. Her first novel, The Flesh Hunter, is a finalist in the Epigram Books Fiction Prize 2020 and she is currently labouring her second.
Moderator Akshita Nanda is the author of two novels: Beauty Queens of Bishan (Penguin Random House SEA) and Nimita's Place (Epigram Books) which co-won the 2020 Singapore Literature Prize for English Fiction. Nimita's Place was also adapted for the stage and shortlisted for the 2019 Singapore Book Awards.
