Renowned for his poetry and prose, the charismatic Salleh Ben Joned (1941-2020) is remembered as one of Malaysia’s most exciting modernist writers. This conversation between his daughter, Anna Salleh, and curator Shabbir Hussain Mustafa traces Salleh Ben Joned’s role and contributions to literary debates in Malaysia. Anna Salleh will discuss her recently released two-part audio documentary on her father, Salleh Ben Joned: A Most Unlikely Malay.
This conversation is an extension of the symposium titled ‘dan kau merantau lagi/and you wander once again’ in conjunction with the Latiff Mohidin: Pago Pago exhibition held by National Gallery Singapore in September 2020.
