We gather over three in-conversations organised by T:>Works, beginning 10 November, to engage in intimate and open dialogue, and raise questions on expected ways of behaving, representing, as well as belonging to a community as well as society. Each conversation identifies a specific knotty issue on othering that heightens the complexities of identities where society’s sexual and gender labels do not apply.
Talk #2: Different/Deviant explores normativities in the everyday with speakers Alfian Sa’at, Amanda Lee Koe and Carissa Cheow. Attend to the complexities of representation in the LGBTQ+ communities, from visual and textual representation in the media, communicative tools and dating apps to sites of advocacy, and the narratives that are eclipsed in the process.
