An Ekphrastic Series invites Singapore’s leading writers, poets and playwrights to respond to exhibitions within the National Gallery Singapore.
In this second edition of the series, viewers will get an insight into the writing practice of Adan Jimenez and Felicia Low-Jimenez, the husband-and-wife writing team behind A.J. Low and the award-winning Sherlock Sam series of children’s books. Together, they will bring viewers through some of the artworks in the Gallery’s long-term exhibition Between Declarations and Dreams: Art of Southeast Asia since the 19th Century, interspersing the tour with personal reflections on their literary works.
Viewers will be invited to create their own ekphrastic responses at the end of the programme with a creative writing prompt!
The programme will be broadcasted over two sessions online via the National Gallery Singapore’s Facebook page.
A.J. Low is the husband-and-wife writing team of Adan Jimenez and Felicia Low-Jimenez behind the Sherlock Sam series of children’s books. Their titles have won the International Schools Libraries Network’s Red Dot Award, and have been published in North America, Indonesia, Turkey, and soon, South Korea. An animated Sherlock Sam series is also in the works. During the day, Felicia is a comics publisher and Adan edits video games.
