Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in Singapore. But how many of us know what it takes to brew a cuppa? Full-time artist Alvin Mark Tan returns from Italy and rediscovers the coffee culture here through oils, inks, watercolours and videos. In his first sketchbook brew dedicated to his hometown, he plunges into the coffee scene to see how it has percolated throughout the island.
Alvin Mark Tan is a full-time artist based in Singapore. He paints traditionally in oil and illustrates in ink and watercolour. Trained in Graphic Design and Advertising in Los Angeles, Alvin started out as a graphic artist at MINDEF. Later, he branched out into advertising, environmental design and documentary-making at Singapore Press Holdings. He also graduated in an Animation programme, with a focus in concept art.
