Rapatseni is the Malay programme under The Arts House’s Poetry with Music series, which celebrates Malay poetry and the beauty of the Malay language, music, culture and traditions. Titled Berseri Lakon & Alun, this third edition is underpinned by the notion that “art is the poetry of life, music is the dance of the world” and explores life and love through a writer’s eyes.
Delve into the introspective musings of a writer who reflects on his life and witness the unfolding of a relationship between a young couple about to be torn apart by circumstances beyond their control.
Berseri Lakon & Alun features works written by Hamed Ismail, Kamaria Buang and Rafaat Hamzah, accompanied by traditional Malay music and dance. It is directed by Hidayat Nordin and performed by Rafaat Hamzah, Anna Khairyna, Hisyam Salimnor alongside musicians, Juraimi Johari, Rudi Salim, Alfififyan Rahim and Sultan Ali Ahamed.
Join us and experience the beauty and richness of Malay poetry in an evening of captivating recitations and performances.
