SING LIT STATION proudly presents "On Rain: A Reading with Alvin Pang, Clarissa Goenawan, Eileen Chong and Mahita Vas".
Join us for a quiet and cosy night in as these four literary lights illuminate your rainy days with their rain-titled texts. The reading will be followed by a Q&A session, moderated by Alvin Pang.
ABOUT ALVIN PANG
Alvin Pang was Singapore's 2005 Young Artist of the Year for Literature, and was conferred the Singapore Youth Award (Arts and Culture) in 2007. Listed in the Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry in English, he is active in festivals and publications worldwide. Author of over a dozen books, his writing has been translated into more than twenty languages.
ABOUT CLARISSA GOENAWAN
Clarissa Goenawan is an Indonesian-born Singaporean writer. Her award-winning short fiction has appeared in literary magazines and anthologies in Singapore, Australia, the UK, and the US. Rainbirds is her first novel.
ABOUT EILEEN CHONG
Eileen Chong is a Sydney poet who was born in Singapore. She is the author of seven books. Her latest collection of poetry is Rainforest, and her latest project is Map-Making, a collaborative book of photographs and poems about Singapore (with Charlene Winfred). Her work has shortlisted for numerous prizes, including twice for the Australian Prime Minister's Literary Awards.
ABOUT MAHITA VAS
Mahita Vas now spends her time on mental health advocacy and pursuing personal interests including reading and writing. Her first novel, Rain Tree, was published in 2016 and was selected for the National Arts Council catalogue, Fiction Singapore 2017/18. Her next novel, It Happened On Scrabble Sunday, will be launched in early July.
