This forum will look at concepts of 'gender' in Southeast Asia from the perspectives of various communities in the Nusantara, in particular, the Bugis community. Invited speakers will discuss how the concept of 'gender' is portrayed in the different mediums - from films, literary texts as well as how they are performed in societies.
Featured speakers include Okky Madasari (Resident Writer, Department of Malay Studies, NUS) and Kiki Febriyanti (Filmaker, Indonesia). The forum will be moderated by Annaliza Bakri (Educator/Translator, Singapore).
The forum will be held in English.
