What can an individual do in dark times; when one’s world is seemingly out of one’s control? Writing can be an act of resistance in such instances – a legitimate private response to outside forces.
Inspired by Jim Tan's Payoh, come join AfterWords in a reading-cum-discussion of the strategies writers use to alter their own narratives and redefine the terms of their own lives: Allegory, satire, speculative fiction, among others. Along the way, you will explore, in a short writing exercise, something you’d like to change.
Don’t get mad. Get writing. Held at Programme Zone, Level 2 of Marine Parade Library, Clara Chow is the author of the short-story collection, Dream Storeys (2016). In 2015, she co-founded the art and literary journal WeAreAWebsite.com. This is the second of three AfterWords session which Clara will be facilitating.
